How do I use my bong candle for the first time?

Before lighting your bong candle for the first time, be sure to trim the wick down using our wick trimmers (our candles burn best when the wick is less than ½” long). Light your candle’s wick using our electric lighters to keep your candle clean and beautiful on every burn. On your first burn, it is important to burn your candle long enough to melt the entire top of the wax in order to prevent the wick from tunneling through the wax. Typically, 1-2 hours of burn time on the first light will do the trick.

How long do bong candles burn for?

Our candles burn for 100+ hours– longer than any sesh we’ve ever had!. As the candle burns down and the wax level gets lower, it will burn slower and last longer. However, we find the bong candle has a hard time staying lit once the wax level has reached the downstem hole area due to poor air flow. To continue enjoying the candle when it reaches this level, we highly suggest using a candle warmer. This will melt all of the wax at one time, producing a great scent throw and dozens of additional hours of scented enjoyment.

How do I clean out the wax when I’m done burning my bong candle?

Once you're done burning your bong candle, there are a few ways to get the wax out. You can use a candle warmer to melt down the remaining was and then dump the melted wax out. Another common technique for cleaning candle vessels is to carefully pour boiling water into the vessel, which will release the wax and then the wax can be poured out. Just don't ever ever EVER put your bong candle in the microwave to melt the wax because there is a metal piece on the bottom of the wick. 

Once the wax is out, simply remove the wick, clean the bong using rubbing alcohol and salt like you normally would and you are ready to sesh! Our downstem + bowl set transforms your bong candle from a candle into a real bong!

Are your schwag candles safe to smoke out of?

Yes! Our schwag candles have cosmetic flaws in the glass (such as minor scratches or inherent black marks from the manufacturing process), wax (such as foreign material), or labeling (such as creases) but are structurally sound. They are still safe to burn as a candle and use as a bong afterwards. We do not sell schwag candles that are cracked or broken so if your schwag candle arrives with this type of damage, please contact us right away so we can file a shipping claim and get your product replaced for you.

The scent I want is sold out, when will it be back in stock?

Our scents are handmade, poured in small-batches, and are often offered in limited edition collections so stock runs sometimes happen. Not all out-of-stock scents come back– but you never know! We are always dropping super fun collections with brand new scents so we recommend signing up for our emails via the website to be the first to know when new scents launch and old favorites return. 

The scent is not very strong, what's going on? (Scent throw)

Our candles are robustly fragranced to ensure a positive experience. However, the top 1/2" of wax may have a lighter fragrance load due to our finishing techniques. In order to get smooth beautiful tops we do a pour over with an ounce of wax before finishing the candle and this little bit of wax may have less of a scent throw than the wax actually used to make the full candle. Additionally, through our product testing and our own personal use of our candles, we have noticed that the bong candle throws much more scent as it burns further down the neck, getting better each time you light it. While we are not scientists by any stretch, we think it has something to do with the heat vortex that is created in the neck of the bong. It is also true that some of our scents have more subtle aromas than others, while others may be stronger.

Some external factors can influence the scent throw of your candle as well. Consider the size of the room you are burning it in and if there are any competing scents going on. Cross breezes or open windows can also affect the perceived strength of the aroma of the candle as it burns.

Orders & Shipping

Where is my order?

All in-stock orders are processed and shipped within 5 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) after receiving your order confirmation email. You will receive a notification when your order has shipped that contains your tracking information. Be sure to check your spam/junk email folder if you haven’t received any order updates as our emails sometimes end up there. Please be aware that if you did not provide an email address at the time you placed your order, you will not be able to receive any updates about your order.

If your order has been returned to us due to an address error, you will receive a refund for the order minus all shipping costs (outbound shipping as well as the return shipping costs that we are charged to return the package to us). 

If the shipping carrier returns the package to us after holding it at their facility per your request or because you are not present to receive it when they attempt their deliveries, you will receive a refund for the order minus all shipping costs (outbound shipping as well as the return shipping costs that we are charged to return the package to us).

How do I check the status of my order?

When your order has shipped, you will receive an email notification from us which will include a tracking number you can use to check its status. Be sure to check your spam/junk email folder if you haven’t received any order updates as our emails sometimes end up there. Please allow up to 48 hours for the tracking information to be updated. If you haven’t received your order within 7 business days of receiving your shipping confirmation email, please contact us at hi@bongcandles.com with your name and order number, and we will look into it for you.

I tried placing an order and it didn’t go through but my card was charged. Did my order go through? 

When this happens, it is typically due to your bank declining the charge. It may appear as a pending charge on your bank account for a couple of days but it will drop off eventually. We recommend placing the order again and if you continue to experience issues, you may want to contact your bank to find out why they are not allowing the charge to go through.

What do I do if I accidentally use an incorrect shipping address on my order and need to update it?

Contact us ASAP via email at hi@bongcandles.com after placing your order if you made an error in your shipping address. Please provide your order number and your correct shipping address and we can update your order so long as it hasn’t shipped yet. Unfortunately we are not liable for shipping costs or packages that are shipped to incorrect addresses through no fault of our own. If your order is returned to us due to an address error, you will receive a refund for the order minus all shipping costs.

My order arrived damaged, what should I do?

If your order arrives damaged, please email us at hi@bongcandles.com right away. We will need you to provide photos of the damaged product, photos of all sides of the box that your candle was packaged in, and photos of all sides of the shipping box (including your shipping label) so that we can file the shipping claim and replace the broken item(s) ASAP. Please hang on to the packaging and the broken product in the meantime and do not throw anything away until we confirm the claim has been filed with the carrier and no additional photos are needed.

Do you ship outside the US?

At this time, we only ship within the US but we are looking into options to ship internationally. Be sure to sign up for our emails to be the first to find out about new markets we enter!

Do you ship in discreet packaging?

Yes! Our products ship in unmarked shipping boxes. Our business name will be located in the return address however, but that is the only mention of our brand on our shipping boxes. Our shipments do not contain any receipts or pricing either, so if you’re gifting your bong candle, you can rest assured that your recipient will receive it without any pricing information in the shipment.

Returns & Exchanges

Can I return my order?

We accept returns up to 14 days after delivery, if the item is unlit, unused, undamaged, and in its original packaging. We will refund the full order amount minus the shipping costs for the return. Schwag products and custom products (such as special orders or personalized items) cannot be returned. Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards. Please contact us at hi@bongcandles.com with your order number (found on your confirmation email) to initiate a return or exchange. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted. We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return to let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.

How do I make an exchange?

The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.
